Hello World! Although I have not yet completed the design for this site I would like to let you know exactly what it is. This is a recollection and current account of our journey to get our BFP (Big Fat Positive) pregnancy test. The all elusive positive we search for....We are not there yet, but obviously we are hopeful!
Why BFPositive? Aside from most of the other blog/website names being taken, I'd like to keep the entire journey/blog as upbeat and positive as possible.
My husband and I are 37 and 38 and we have been trying for roughly two years. We have done 5 iuis and are currently in the process of our first ivf cycle.
I have spent many hours perusing websites, blogs, anything I could find to answer my questions, and normally I would keep browsing until I found the answer I wanted and only then I could stop (Sound familiar?). I want to include all my first hand knowledge, research, and experiences here, hoping my journey may help to inform you in some way along your journey. There are so many topics that I would like to cover, but I will start at the beginning, perhaps jump around a bit, but eventually cover it all.
I am a researcher, a worrier, and a numbers person. You put these things together and you get someone who has read many many blogs, as I am sure you all have, and scoped the internet for every question, symptom, medication, protocol available for most facets of infertility.
My hope is that I can answer many of your questions, possibly forewarn you on a few things, and provide information. Hopefully our story will comfort you in knowing you are certainly not alone, help you to make the most informed decisions you can, console you when you need it, and join you on your journey as you join me along mine.
I encourage you to post any relevant information that you may have as we are a community of people going through the same thing and the more information we have the better. (Clearly I hold no responsibility for the validity of other people's posts.)
I think the best place to start is with the abbreviations. That way anyone who may be new to the process will have a reference for many of the blogs and posts that are already out there.
BFP - Big Fat Positive (Positive pregnancy test)
BFN - Big F**n Negative (Negative pregnancy test) - I may have used liberties here (It should be Big Fat Negative), but the sentiment of the previous seems just about right.
BD - Baby Dance (Intercourse)
AF - Aunt Flo (Period)
HPT - Home Pregnancy Test
ET - Embryo Transfer
FET - Frozen Embryo Transfer
POAS - Pee On A Stick
Please feel free to add any additional ones I may have missed in the comments below.
It's nice to meet you and until next time....
